When shopping for a new riding lawn mower, you’ve probably come across the term “Zero Turn” quite often. You probably are wondering if this option is right for you, and what the difference is from a regular lawn tractor.

Here are some things to consider when choosing between a lawn tractor vs. a zero-turn mower:

• If your yard has several trees, bushes, flower gardens or other “obstacles”, a zero-turn mower offers better responsiveness and a tighter turning radius for you to maximize movement.
• If your yard is slopping or otherwise has several hills, front-wheel drive lawn tractors provide better traction, torque and speed, compared to their zero-turn counterparts.
• Zero-turn mowers will likely get the job done quicker, with clean cuts at 5MPH and top speeds of over 10MPH. Lawn tractors mow cleanly at 4MPH and top out around 7MPH.
