 OVERVIEW:

Trusted for over two decades, the SportDOG® Brand In-Ground Fence™ systems are a reliable, cost-effective alternative to traditional fencing. Designed for sporting breeds, these fences have the features needed to give your dog freedom to run, just only so far.

The SportDOG Brand® SDF-100C In-Ground Fence™ System features a smaller and sleeker Collar Receiver than the original In-Ground Fence system (SDF-100A). The collar features a Li-Ion battery that charges in two hours and has a one to two-month battery life. Now featuring seven levels of static stimulation as well as vibration and tone, it’s easier than ever to keep your dog safe and secure. With 1,000 feet of wire and 100 flags, you can contain an area as large as 1 1/3 acres (or up to 100 acres with the purchase of additional wire and flags (SDF-WF)). Multiple dogs? Simply purchase additional collars (SDF-CR). Dependable in any environment, the collar uses DryTek® technology - waterproof and submersible to 25 feet.

Features

 FEATURES:

  • Containment Area - Kits cover 1 1/3 acre; expandable to contain 100 acres with purchase of more wire.
  • Static / Tone / Vibe - Tone/vibe warning as your dog approaches the boundary and multiple static stimulation levels.
  • Unlimited Dogs - One collar included; expandable to contain unlimited dogs with purchase of additional collars.
  • DryTek® Waterproof - Using our DryTek technology, the collar is waterproof and submersible to 25 feet.
  • Expandable Coverage - This kit includes 2 rolls of 500 ft. wire and 2 splice kits, covering up to 1 ⅓ acres based on your layout. For larger areas, additional wire and splice kits are required.
  • Adjustable Correction Levels - The collar provides a tone and vibration warning as your dog nears the boundary regardless of what level it's set to. It comes set to level 1 which is tone and vibration only. There are 7 levels of static stimulation to chose from with level 2 being the lowest and 8 being the highest. Refer to the operation manual for adjustment instructions.

How Does It Work?
Fence Transmitter: Sends a radio signal through the boundary wire installed around the containment area.
Range Adjustment: Control how close your dog can get to the wire by adjusting the fence transmitter's range knob.
Flags: Placed where your dog would receive the warning, flags are optional but recommended for training; they provide a visual cue for your dog.
Static Correction: If your dog keeps approaching the wire, the collar delivers a static correction to deter them.
Correction Levels: Choose from 7 levels of correction intensity based on your dog’s temperament. Start with the lowest effective level.
Anti-Linger: Prevents collar battery drain by eventually delivering a static correction if your dog stays in the warning zone too long.

Installing Your In-Ground Fence™ System: A Quick Guide:

Plan and Test Layout
Decide your boundary layout.
Lay the wire on the ground and walk around the boundary with the collar at your dog’s height to check if it vibrates as expected.

Bury the Wire
Dig a shallow trench and bury the wire a few inches deep to protect it.

Place Warning Flags
Walk up to the buried wire with the collar at your dog’s height and place flags where the collar vibrates. Space flags every 10-15 feet.

Set Correction Levels
Start with the lowest static stimulation level on the collar and gradually increase until you find the lowest effective level.

Train Your Dog
Use the provided manual for short training sessions over the next 2 weeks. Remove flags once your dog understands the boundary.

Potential Additional Tools Needed

  • Extra wire and flags (for areas larger than 1 ⅓ acres)
  • Shovel or lawn edger*
  • Drill, measuring tape
  • Pliers, wire stripping pliers, scissors
  • Gel-filled capsules, wire nuts, ground rod and clamp
  • PVC pipe or water hose (for hard-to-bury areas)
  • Circular saw with masonry blade (for hard surfaces)
  • Patching compound, staple gun
  • Non-metallic collar and leash

*For larger areas, consider renting a trencher to help with burying the wire.

Important Tips:
Continuous Loop -The boundary wire must start and end at the Fence Transmitter.
Gradual Turns - Use gentle curves at corners to avoid gaps in the boundary.
Boundary Width - Set warning and stimulation zones to 16-24 feet (8-12 feet on each side of the wire) using the range adjuster knob.
Collar Activation - If the wire runs along an outside wall of your house, the collar may activate inside. Remove the collar, adjust the range, or change the layout as needed.
