Different Types Of Dog Collars

Dog collars are important for training your dog, and come in many different styles. Before deciding on the right one for your pup, consider some of the more popular types of collars below:

  • Basic collars: These are simply fastened around the neck by a buckle, contain a loop to fasten a leash and nametag, and are made out of either nylon, like this Scott Pet Single-Ply Collar or leather, like this Scott Pet Brown Leather Regular D Collar.
  • Choke collars: These are made of chainlinks and looped around the neck, so when one end is pulled, the collar tightens. There are two styles, basic choke chain collars and pinch collars that mimic the bite of a mother dog.
  • Glow in the dark collars: Great for a variety of uses, LED collars provide end-to-end illumination for walks in the dark.
  • Hunting collars: Designed to be highly visible, hunting collars come in a bright orange color.
