How it Works:
- While safely on the ground, toss a Roofmelt tablet onto the roof.
- The Roofmelt Tablet melts down and settles on the roof surface.
- Roofmelt begins to work when it comes in contact with snow & ice.
- The Roofmelt tablet & water mixture begin to melt (from the bottom up) the existing ice dam.
- Water drains from the roof, to the ground. The ice dam and the snow are safely eliminated.
Common Q&A about KMI Roof Melt:
Will Roofment harm my shingles? - If used as directed, roofmelt will not harm asphalt shingles or surrounding area. 11 years of testing has revealed no negative effects.
Does Roofmelt harm my plants or pets? - Direct contact with undissolved Roofmelt tablets may cause stressing of grass and can be a dehydrant for pets. Flush with water if pets come in contact with undissolved tablets. NOTE: Once Roofmelt has dissolved it is not harmful to plants or animals and is 100% biodegradable.
I had 12" thick ice dams and Roofmelt didn't seem to help that much. What went wrong? - For heavy ice build up we recommend clustering several tablets in one area to melt a channel in the ice dam which will allow trapped water to drain.
What is the intended result of Roofmelt? - Roofmelt is designed to melt through the ice creating relief points for drainage. This allows trapped water to flow off the roof and not cause harm to roofing materials.
