L&M Fleet Supply Announces New Store Location in Escanaba, Michigan

We are proud to announce plans to open our twelfth retail store location in Escanaba, Michigan. Located at the former ShopKo site, the 90,000 plus square foot store is expected to open in Spring 2023. This location marks the first expansion of L&M Supply into Michigan, with future plans for another store to open in Marquette in 2024. “This new location in Escanaba offers an exciting opportunity to revitalize a large retail space that will provide the community with a wide array of products as well as future career opportunities.” said Shawn Matteson, L&M Fleet Supply Co-Owner. In order to accommodate our business model, we will remodel the former ShopKo building starting this fall.

Job Opportunities at L&M Supply Escanaba

With expansion to the Escanaba market, we have plans to hire approximately 80 people to work on the store management, sales floor, cashier, and warehouse teams. We will also look to fill a variety of store support roles, specialty sales positions, and small engine repair jobs. Hiring will begin mid-summer for management roles, followed by department leaders & specialty roles early fall, sales floor team late fall, and cashiers in early January. James Luthen and Delbert Matteson opened the first L&M Fleet Supply store in Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 1959. The first store was a 30’ x 60’ wooden building that barely had room for all the signage on the front. L&M Supply started with a small markup philosophy which continues today. Their vision and mission was to be one of the first merchants to buy direct from factories and sell directly to the consumer. Out of that vision, the Company Philosophy and Logo was established as “Quality at a Discount."

L&M Supply now includes eleven retail store locations and one corporate office/distribution center across Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.
